Refreshing beverages are a must for every poolside party. And for an evening out with the girls, a glass of white or a salty margarita may be just the drink a mom is craving.

But alcohol is not an ingredient that blends well with pregnancy or watching children, especially in the sunny summer heat. Enter festive virgin cocktails, alcohol-free versions of your favorite summer drinks to help you stay hydrated.

Celebrating the Season

Since summer is prime time for key ingredients highlighted in many fresh seasonal beverages, feel free to have some fun blending ingredients such as citrus fruits and mint with sparkling soda or tonic water. Mix and match for a beverage that is low in calories and filled with flavor.

Many summer ingredients are also packed with nutrients. Try a virgin strawberry margarita to get your fill of antioxidants, which may help improve heart health. Trying to boost your immune system and improve digestion? Mix lemon and lime juice with coconut water for a punch of vitamin C and fiber.

Ingredients

4 ounces chamomile tea, cooled
½ ounce ginger ale
½ ounce simple syrup
1 lemon wedge
4 raspberries

Directions

  1. Combine tea, ginger ale and syrup in a martini shaker and shake vigorously.
  2. Squeeze in the juice of one lemon and add whole raspberries.
  3. Add a few ice cubes and shake.
  4. Pour the refreshing beverage into a chilled martini glass and serve with your favorite garnish, such as a sprig of mint.
